Journey of Water is a collaborative illustration exhibition organized by WFF and presented in a modern shopping mall of central Shanghai in the fall of 2021. Created in response to WWF’s conservation work for the Yangtze River Basin, the exhibition reflects on wetland preservation and river health. Among the many local artists, my contribution weaves environmental awareness into the rhythms of urban life and nature.

Inspired by Thumbelina, I reimagined the narrative in an Eastern context. Set on Chongming Island, an alluvial island at the mouth of the Yangtze River in Shanghai, internationally known for its protected wetlands and rich birdlife, the illustration follows a Chinese “Thumbelina” as she explores and experiences the beauty of this biodiverse landscape.
